How It Works
The short version
Snoring happens when soft tissue in your upper airway relaxes during sleep and vibrates as air passes over it. Alivion Hush uses EMS — electrical muscle stimulation — to deliver gentle, low-level pulses to the muscles that support that airway.
Using it
- Prep the skin. Clean and dry the front of your throat, just below the jawline. Skip lotions and oils that night — they interfere with adhesion.
- Attach a patch. Press a fresh hydrogel contact patch onto the device, then position it on your throat.
- Start low. Power on at the lowest intensity. Increase only until you feel a light, comfortable sensation. Never turn it up to the point of discomfort — stronger is not better and won't speed anything up.
- Sleep. Most people stop noticing it shortly after falling asleep.
- Remove in the morning. Let your skin rest during the day.
What to expect, honestly
Some people notice a change in the first week or two. Others take longer. Some see no difference at all.
Snoring is driven by a mix of factors — nasal congestion, alcohol before bed, sleeping on your back, weight, and your individual anatomy. Hush addresses one part of that picture. It won't fix a deviated septum or undo three glasses of wine.
To give it the best chance: use it nightly, side-sleep where you can, and avoid alcohol in the hours before bed.
